3 Insights From The Bench Press Record Of 1010 Pounds By: Stacey Reid
I was surfing the net and came across a youtube video of a guy name Gene Rychlak that bench pressed 1010 pounds breaking the old bench press record of 1008. The first thought that would come to the average persons mind is steroids but that really does not matter to me about whether the guy used steroids or not. What really struck my attention with that feat was WOW! The most I have ever bench pressed in my entire life is 275 pounds one time. To think that someone actually lifted 1010 pounds is totally unreal. Here are 3 insights I gathered from this incredible feat of strength, the bench press record.
Vision
How unbelievable is it to believe that someone actually envisioned themselves lifting over 1000 pounds in the air? You and I may say why is that important for anyone to be able to life so much weight? What is the point? The point is that it is possible. Every human has the opportunity to dream and have a vision of accomplishing great things in life. Having a vision means to actually see yourself succeeding at whatever your heart and mind can conceive. I stopped my bench press ambitions at 275 pounds but this Gene Rychlak believed it possible for a man to lift over 1000 pounds. I never would have thought that was humanly possible but he did. Dare to have a vision about anything.
Focus
There is no way a vision of reaching the 1000 pound bench press record without focus. There are so many people in life that will never seriously entertain a true vision for their life due to distractions which cloud their focus. I wonder what it must have been like for this man to day in and day out put in the training to slowly but surely claw his way to the 1000 pound mark. It surely takes tremendous focus to stay committed to such a huge undertaking. That is a seriously impressive goal. The reason many many people cannot seem to reach small goals in life is mainly due to a lack of personal focus. We allow everything and everybody else to be more important than our own personal desires, so we stop way short of achieving even the smallest of goals.
Personal Sacrifice
I do not know if I can speak for Gene Rychlak but the sacrifices made to reach the bench press record of 1010 pounds had to be great. How many years of training does it take to reach a 1000 pound bench press record? Honestly, not too many people would have tried it. It is simply too much work and takes too much time to achieve. Is it worth it? You bet it is worth it. It is too amazing not be worth it. Everyone around the world can now say there is a man that actually bench pressed 1000 pounds. Can you believe that? What sacrifices are you making today for your vision to be actualized? Because of Gene Rychlak my personal goal now is to bench press 450 pounds. Why you might ask, because I do not know anyone in my neighborhood that can do it. I will be known as the strongest man on my block.
