Free Alternative Energy By: Brav Wohn
We should be doing everything feasible to produce geothermal energy technology. Though largely undeveloped, this form of free energy has immense potential and it is produced from the earth itself. There is huger quantity of free energy lying just below the surface of the earth on which we live, and saddling it is the greatest job.
The temperature at the center of the earth is sixty times greater than the boiling point of water and the heat emanating from it create forces which can be felt only a few miles under the surface of the earth. This enormous heat is a storehouse of almost limitless energy and result in super hot fluids called magma, which we can see whenever a volcano erupts. These fluids also filter to the surface as steam and emerge from vents.
We can develop our own vents, and we can create out own containment chambers for the magma and convert all of this energy into electrical energy to light and heat our homes. A geothermic plant can be created if we dig a well on the ground where there is a rich source of magma or hot fluid, then fit the well with a pipe which would pump up the hot fluid to ground level for the production of required steam. The steam would turn a turbine, which would produce the electrical energy.
There are unfavorable judgments of geothermic free energy tapping which prevents it being applied on the large scale which it should be. Skeptics claim that finding the right area for tapping these resources would be too costly as well as time-consuming. In addition, the set up cost of a geothermic plant is again cost-prohibitive and there is not guarantee that the venture would yield profits later. Some geo-thermal sites, once tapped, might be found to not produce a large enough amount of steam for the power station to be viable or reliable.
Several environmentalists are of the opinion that when you bring out magma, it is possible that some dangerous materials also accompany it. However the benefits of geo-thermal free energy far outweighs such comments if only we explored it deeper. The fact is this is the energy of the Earth herself means it does not produce any pollutants. geo-thermal energy can be extremely productive and it does not take great efforts to develop it once the site is chosen and the plant set up.
geothermal plants, moreover, do not need to be as large as electrical plants, giant dams, or atomic free energy facilities - the environment would be less disrupted. Being an alternative source of energy, its use would lessen our dependency on fossil fuels. The most fundamental point in the favor of geo-thermal free energy is that we would never exhaust it and nor would its value increase with time, as it is an long-term source. The use of geothermic energy would be extremely inexpensive and the cost of creating a energy plant can be recovered expeditiously.
