The most common one is called online dating service which works by filling out a registration form, creating a public profile, and browsing through the database for possible dates. These may also involve exchanges of messages or emails, and a few days or weeks to wait. Though considered fun, users of online dating must be prudent and cautious in providing personal and sensitive data to strangers. They may seem trustworthy, but we can only hope that we know them well enough for them not to use this information for bad reasons.

One of the other types of dating services is through the phone and because mobile phones have become widely available, over the past couple of years, the phone dating services have grown dramatically. Phones services are very convenient, cheaper and faster. Websites which have dating services often charge a high rate. Phones have some free services too. What you would have to pay for is the standard rate per text message that you send. A phone, especially a mobile phone is so much easier to access anywhere, as you can carry it around and check messages regularly.

Still another kind of service is through video; these services are the ones that are often advertised on TV. Here, you will need to go to the company running the service and make a video ad about yourself. You can project yourself depending on your preference. This video is then seen by other clients who would contact you via the service provider, company or the telephone provider.

Then there is speed dating where men and women get together for a short duration and try and see if there is someone in the group that they would like to see more of. After the meeting and the interaction is over, everyone is given a form to be filled out specifying whom they like the most. These forms are checked and any two people showing an interest in each other can contact each other for conversation or plan a date.

Dating service companies are found in the yellow pages, online or on their ads on TV. Today, the Net plays such a large role because it is so wide in its reach. But it is this wider reach that has exposed it to scamsters and money makers. Beware of sites who ask for money.

All said and done, there has been a great change in dating thanks to these services. In the past people would be wary of asking for professional help to meet future companions. But today no such fear exists. Since life and everything around moves more rapidly, people have to keep up with the times. Professional matchmaking has become part of this lifestyle and as the users grow so do the professional matchmaking companies, providing this important service.
